Janisse Presents on the Harmful Effects of Friction and Shear on Feet at IVO 2009 in the Hague

The World Congress on Orthopedic Shoe Technology (known as “IVO 2009“) was held in the Hague, Netherlands, November 12-14. Dennis Janisse, C.Ped, Assistant Professor, Medical College of Wisconsin, and President of National Pedorthic Services, Inc., presented a talk entitled: “Reducing Friction and Shear: both You and Your Patient will Benefit.” The talk reviewed the science of friction and shear and how they can be harmful to skin health causing blisters, excessive callusing, and diabetic foot ulcers. The talk reviewed products designed to manage friction and shear. Included in these products was ShearBan®. Mr. Janisse also discussed specific diseases including diabetes and arthritis where friction and shear can have devastating consequences on skin health.
