I recently spent 10 days in Banff and Jasper National Parks in Canada hiking mostly every day. During the first couple days it was either raining or snowing. I like to hike in low cut hiking shoes so my feet got wet. I had on synthetic socks which kept my feet warm and pretty dry. However, by the third day, I started to develop heel fissures or heel cracks on my right heel. The fissures were just starting to hurt, and I knew I had to do something if I wanted to keep hiking. I did two things:
- I used an emery board to reduce the callus a little in the area of the fissures;
- I put ENGO® on the insole as shown in the photos below.
IT WORKED! I was able to keep hiking for the remainder of our trip! If anyone else has used ENGO® (or if any medical professionals have used ShearBan®) to alleviate heel fissures, we would be very interested in hearing from you.
